The Ensemble Çur
Is a string quintet formed in 2016 thanks to the initiative of 5 young Venezuelan musicians in Italy; all of them born and raised in Maracaibo. Although they had been playing together already in orchestras in different occasions, the need to create a chamber orchestra was developed in the place in which they all decided to perfection their musical and instrumental abilities: Italy.
The word “Çur” comes from a Venezuelan native tongue called Guaraní; and the meaning is “to grow, to progress”. They decided to use “Ensemble” because they not only dedicate themselves on playing music for quintets but also other chamber forms, such as: duo, trio and quartet.
On May 20th, 2016 the Ensemble Çur had its debut in the prestigious Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. And since then, they have played in festivals of music such as the one in Piazzola sul Brenta called “Festa della Musica Attiva”, and other performances in the cities of Amsterdam, Moscow, Venice, Florence, Padua and Tropea.
In 2017 the Ensemble decided to moved to Barcelona to study a Master in Chamber Music in the Conservatori Liceu, but the violist and cellist remained in Italy and from december two spanish musicians are playing those roles.
